Kambo Purge Readings: What Is Your Body Telling You?

Book a Kambo Session

Within Kambo practice, the purge is often understood as more than a physical response. Its color, texture, and form may offer insight into what is being released from the physical, emotional, energetic, or spiritual body.

The following interpretations come from ceremonial teachings, practitioner observations, and traditional purge-reading systems. Every person and every ceremony is different, so these meanings should be approached as possibilities rather than rigid conclusions.

Only you truly know what you're letting go of. I offer these reflections as a way to deepen your understanding and honor the sacred messages your body may be sharing.

Understanding Your Kambo Purge

Clear or Watery Purge

Physical association: The nervous system.
Emotional and energetic interpretation: A clear purge may represent the release of anxiety, stress, surface-level fear, or emotional residue. It is often seen during the beginning stages of the purge or while someone is moving toward greater clarity. Clear purging accompanied by shaking may indicate a deeper nervous-system release.

White Foam or Froth

Physical association: The lungs, breath, and respiratory system. Some purge-reading traditions also connect froth with hormonal imbalance, accumulated heavy metals, or the body processing previously used medications.
Emotional and energetic interpretation: White foam is commonly associated with grief, sadness, or emotion held within the chest and lungs. It may represent something that has been carried within the heart for a long time and is finally ready to move.

Bright or Dark Yellow

Physical association: The liver and bile.
Emotional and energetic interpretation: Bright or dark yellow is traditionally associated with anger, guilt, judgment, resentment, envy, and other long-held negative emotions. This may be experienced as a strong emotional detox or the release of feelings that have been directed inward.

Pale Yellow

Physical association: The kidneys.
Emotional and energetic interpretation: Pale yellow may be connected with fear, shame, isolation, insecurity, or feeling unsupported.

Green

Physical association: The gallbladder and liver.
Emotional and energetic interpretation: Green is frequently associated with jealousy, resentment, and rage. It may also represent anger created when personal boundaries have been ignored or crossed. Within this framework, jealousy can sometimes arise when we have forgotten our own worth, while rage may point toward places where stronger boundaries are needed.

Thick Mucus, Slime, or Gelatinous Material

Physical association: The throat, chest, heart, and digestive system.
Emotional and energetic interpretation: Thick or gelatinous material may symbolize stagnant emotion, unresolved grief, old trauma, or feelings that have remained unspoken or trapped within the body. It is often associated with repressed emotions beginning to loosen and move.

Red or Pink

Physical association: Traditionally connected with irritation, ulcers, or bleeding within the digestive system.
Emotional and energetic interpretation: Red or pink may represent deeply rooted pain, ancestral or karmic wounds, or trauma held within the root and sacral energy centers. The amount and appearance should always be carefully observed during ceremony.

Brown

Physical association: The digestive tract and physical parasites. Within traditional purge-reading systems, brown pieces may be interpreted as physical parasites.
Emotional and energetic interpretation: Brown liquid or water may be understood as parasitic energy — the accumulated weight of other people's negativity, emotions, expectations, or energy that has been taken on and carried as one's own. It may also represent old pain, fear, guilt, trauma, or generational patterns rising to be released.

Black

Physical association: Deeply stored toxicity or material the body has struggled to release.
Emotional and energetic interpretation: Black may be interpreted as very dense spiritual energy, shadow material, old trauma, or blockages that have been present for an extended period. Some traditions refer to this heavy or obstructive energy as panema — dark or stagnant energy believed to interfere with a person's ability to move forward freely.

Blue or Turquoise

Physical association: Heavy metals or environmental toxins.
Emotional and energetic interpretation: Blue or turquoise may represent the release of something foreign or burdensome that has accumulated within the system.

Orange

Physical association: The digestive system and pharmaceutical toxins.
Emotional and energetic interpretation: Orange is connected with the solar plexus and sacral centers. It may reflect shame, fear of judgment, challenges involving personal power, boundary difficulties, or issues surrounding self-worth.

White Pieces, Pellets, or Cauliflower-Like Material

Physical association: Within purge-reading traditions, white floating pieces may be associated with unwanted bacteria, candida or yeast, calcium, cholesterol, or mold-related toxicity.
Emotional and energetic interpretation: This may symbolize dense or deeply rooted material breaking apart and leaving the system.

Specks or Small Particles

Physical association: Traditionally associated with irregular or unwanted cells.
Emotional and energetic interpretation: Specks may represent a larger pattern fragmenting into smaller pieces as it is released.

Other Forms of Purging and Release

Purging Without Producing Anything

Dry heaving or vomiting without substance may indicate that something is trying to move but remains hidden, guarded, or resistant. Energetically, this can be part of learning to surrender. The process is supported with patience, breath, and grounding rather than force.

Sweating

Physical association: The nervous system.

Emotional and energetic interpretation: Sweating may be connected with overthinking, mental overactivity, hypervigilance, or allowing the mind to overpower the needs of the body.

Shaking

Shaking may accompany a clear purge and is often interpreted as a nervous-system release. It may represent fear, anxiety, stress, or stored tension moving through the body.

Bowel Movement or "Bottom Purge"

Physical association: The lower digestive system.

Emotional and energetic interpretation: A bottom purge is connected with the root center and may represent letting go of survival fears, ancestral or karmic patterns, sexual trauma, past-life experiences, or deeply rooted concerns surrounding safety and belonging.

Belching

Physical association: The stomach and digestive system.

Emotional and energetic interpretation: Belching may be experienced as a release from the spiritual or energetic body.

Hiccups

Hiccups are sometimes interpreted as an energetic reset — a moment when the body pauses, reorganizes, and returns to a new rhythm.

Brief Fainting

A very brief fainting episode may occur during Kambo and is recognized within some ceremonial purge-reading traditions. Some practitioners associate this experience with a deep energetic clearing, an entity attachment, or a brief movement into what may feel like a paranormal or altered-state experience. The purge may intensify immediately after the person returns to awareness, sometimes without the person realizing they briefly fainted. As with every physical response during Kambo, the participant is observed and supported throughout the process.

The Purge as a Spiritual Release

In ceremonial Kambo work, purging is not viewed as only a physical act. It may become a spiritual release through which the body communicates on behalf of the emotional and energetic self.

A purge reading is never intended to impose one meaning upon someone's experience. It offers a framework for reflection, allowing the participant to explore what may be leaving, what may be changing, and what is asking to be integrated.

Breathwork, intention, grounding, and integration can help a participant listen more deeply to what their ceremony may be revealing.

Held with care. Approached with respect.
